Ferrari has been working on a 599 GTO replacement based on the F12 Berlinetta called the Ferrari F12 GTO.

The 2016 Ferrari F12 GTO will be powered by a Naturally aspirated 6.3-Liter V12 coupled with the HY-KERS system similar to the one in LaFerrari.

The upcoming 2016 Ferrari F12 GTO will be limited to 650 units and similar to its predecessor, it’s by invitation only.

Ferrari held a private viewing of the 2016 Ferrari F12 GTO and two pictures have been leaked by an attendee.

The 2016 Ferrari F12 GTO’s power unit will produce 800 hp and the new supercar is over 200 lbs lighter than the F12 Berlinetta which it is based on.

2016 Ferrari F12 GTO’s HY-KERS’ lithium-ion battery packs are positioned under the chassis and they help lower the center of gravity without disturbing underbody airflow.

Ferrari F12 GTO’s Hybrid system is similar to the Ferrari 599 GTB HY-KERS Hybrid Concept showcased in 2010.

The new hybrid system weighs around 200 lbs, and Ferrari shed over 400 lbs from the F12 to achieve over 200 lbs total weight savings by use of exotic material such as carbon fiber.

The 2016 Ferrari F12 GTO features an enhanced Aero Bridge that channels air running from the bonnet, through right and left flanks to produce high levels of downforce.

We estimate the 2016 Ferrari F12 GTO to do 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds and 1/4 mile in 10.5 seconds.

We also estimate the new F12 GTO will be nearly as fast around the Fiorano track as the Ferrari LaFerrari with LaFerrari’s time of 1:19:70 which is 3.3 seconds faster than the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.

The 2016 Ferrari F12 GTO would most probably lap the Fiorano track in 1:20 flat, a whopping 3 seconds faster than the Ferrari 488 GTB.

Ferrari is scheduled to officially unveil the 2016 Ferrari F12 GTO in 2015 IAA Frankfurt Motor show this September.

2016 Ferrari F12 GTO incorporates design cues from the famed Ferrari 250 GTO, and 288 GTO.
