The 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe C205 is Wider, Lower, Longer, Lighter and looks more masculine than its predecessor C204.

Greg Kable of AUTOCAR had a ride along with Christian Fruh, who was the head of Mercedes SLS AMG development, and now is the head of C205 C-Class development.

Things are already off to a good start as SLS AMG is one of the Best Supercars the three-pointed star has ever created.

Pillarless doors and fixed B-Pillars

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe features pillarless doors, however that comes at the cost of fixed B-pillars.

Just like the W205 C-Class sedan being a baby S-Class, the C205 C-Class Coupe resembles the S-Coupe, especially in the rear end with long narrow taillights.

We’ve seen many different rounds of spyshots of the new C63 Coupe, and other variants of the new C-Class Coupe, however these new shots are the most revealing yet.

I used to drive a 2014 C204 Mercedes C350 Coupe and its biggest problem was the SUV like body-roll.

Christian Fruh has disclosed to AUTOCAR that by using larger diameter anti-roll bars, firmer bushings, unique to C205 tuned dampers, springs, and lowered suspension by 15 mm, the C205 C-Class Coupe has a lower center of gravity than W205 sedan and C204 Coupe which helps the car handle better, be more firm and ultimately feel more sporty.

The new C-Class Coupe will have newly developed bucket seats different than the ones in the W204 sedan, and they will be mounted 20 mm lower.

C204 Mercedes C63 AMG drivers have always complained about the lack of headroom especially during tracking the C63 while wearing a helmet. Now you have one less excuse to get a C63 Coupe.

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe will carry the same engine lineup as the sedan version.

C300 Coupe will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo inline-4 cylinder that produces 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque and will be available in RWD and AWD.

C450 Coupe will be powered by a 3.0-liter biturbo V6 that produces 362 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque and will only be available with AWD.

C63 Coupe will be powered by a 4.0-liter AMG biturbo V8 that produces 470 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque and will only be available with RWD.

C63 S Coupe will be powered by a 4.0-liter AMG biturbo V8 that produces 505 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, and there are rumors that AMG will provide an optional AWD for the S model.

AUTOCAR liked the new C-Class Coupe as they call it a “strong contender in the mid-sized premium brand coupe”. Only time will tell, I personally am very interested and will review it when they’re available.
